Iowa City Diving Team

Welcome From Coach Ryan Morrow

Coach Ryan Morrow is the Head Coach of the Iowa City Diving Team and the Assistant Coach (Diving) for both the City High School Swimming & Diving and the West High School Swimming & Diving teams. Outside of the pool, Ryan is a student at The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business and has been involved in the sport of diving his entire life. He began diving at the age of 6 and competed in both club diving and for Naperville North High School in Naperville, IL. Unfortunately, Ryan's high school diving career was disrupted by COVID, which ended seasons early and caused burnout, preventing him from competing in the Illinois State Championship.

Ryan trained under and studied coaching techniques from John Wingfield, the 2008 Team USA Head Diving Olympic Coach, and attended Ripfest in Arcadia, Indiana, during the summers. He has incorporated many of John's teachings and philosophies into his coaching. He first applied these to the Naperville North Girls' Diving Program as an assistant coach while still in high school and now with the Iowa City Diving Team.

Ryan comes from a "diving" family. Both his mother and father were Division 1 divers for The University of Iowa, with his mother being the first diver ever named captain of The University of Iowa's Women's Swimming & Diving Team. His father is also a Nebraska High School Diving State Champion and an All-American.

The Iowa City Diving Team consists of ICCSD divers who are part of either the City High School swimming & diving team or the West High School swimming & diving team. While divers may compete for their respective high schools and some rivalry may exist at meets, it is imperative that all divers understand that the Iowa City Diving Team is ONE TEAM that is conjoint with both swim teams (we are the middle of the Venn diagram).
